NewsBush changes position on CO2
US president George W. Bush has changed his position on greenhouse gases and has called for goals to cut emissions. This call comes a week before the G8 summit in Germany, where climate change will be an important point on the agenda.
Some environmentalists are skeptical about the change of position. They suspect the move, though apparently a step forward for Bush, is actually meant to head off more far reaching proposals.
The skeptics point to the fact that US officials have apparently rejected proposals for firm goals to reduce CO2 emissions in the run up to next week’s G8 summit.
