NewsOrganic Food May Be Healthier

Organic food may be better for the people eating, as well as for the environment. A study of organically grown tomatoes has found that they contain more flavonoids than other tomatoes.
Flavonoids are believed to be effective against cardiovascular disease. A fact that originally prompted research into which foods are richer in flavonoids.
The researches did think their might be more flavonoids in organic tomatoes, but even they were surprised to find the amount more than double that found in other tomatoes. Part of the explanation appears to be that the flavonoids are parts of the tomatoes natural defense system to ward off pests.
