Freshly GreenFreshly Green #7: Big Fat Green Wedding
Welcome to more Freshly Green!
Your hosts, Greg Peterson and Amy Godfrey, are here to bring you a fun approach to living green! Sit back and listen, and learn about what “living green” means to them, plus some easy tips for conserving that everyone can follow, because living green doesn’t mean living without.
In this episode, Greg and Amy talk about creating a wedding with a low environmental impact, since Amy’s getting married!
Amy’s “Big Fat Green Wedding” plans include: having the wedding and reception in the same place (to cut down on pollution); invitations made from 100% recycled materials that an also be planted to grow wildflowers; RSVP cards instead of full envelope responses; party favors that are useful and reusable (trees, plantable hearts, polycarbonate water bottles); getting carbon offsets to balance the distances some of her wedding guests must travel to get there; using china for table settings instead of having to deal with disposable plates; hiring local caterers and food providers.
Amy also mentions how some wedding service providers are starting to go green; her organic wedding cake, and she promises to provide more details on other plans as soon as she discovers more new ways to have her Green Wedding.
