Freshly GreenFreshly Green #41: Green Living Education

Posted by Summer on Sunday, 26 Oct 2008

Welcome to Freshly Green!

Your hosts, Greg and Amy, are here to bring you a fun approach to living green! Sit back and listen, and learn about what “living green” means to them, plus some easy tips for conserving that everyone can follow, because living green doesn’t mean living without.

First, Greg and Amy talk about the challenges facing water consumption, and the proliferation of the use of plastic bottles. There have been studies showing that chemical agents from the plastics manufacturing process can leech into the water if the bottles have been in the heat too long, so stainless steel bottles are an option. They also talk about the trials in Orange County CA to reuse recycled sewage water, after overcoming the mental “yuck” factor.

Next, Greg and Amy talk with Denise Phillips about Get Goingreen, and her quest to get people to use fewer toxic chemicals around the house, to benefit both pets and children. The teaching she does encourages people to actively learn more about chemicals and ingredients that are taken for granted in everyday life that might be adversely affecting the health of pets, children, and adults, and the simple steps that can be taken to make living a little cleaner and healthier.
